RICHLANDS, Va. — Traveling across the state line to Richlands, the Bluefield Lady Beavers kept the gas pedal down in the fourth quarter on Monday evening to defeat the Lady Blues 58-45 on the court at Richlands Middle School.
Bluefield (2-2) got balanced scoring from all five starters, with Jia Coppola netting a game-high 15 points. Alyssa Lester and freshman Autumn Spangler each added 12, and Dani Janutolo and Emaleigh Gallinger had nine and eight points respectively.
Ericah Burton tossed in four 3-pointers on her way to 14 points; she also had five rebounds and five assists for Richlands (1-4). Shania Overton collected 11 rebounds.
Bluefield plays Thursday night at Graham.
Richlands travels to Grundy on Wednesday for a girls-boys doubleheader.
