PRINCETON — The hustle and bustle of the holidays wasn’t limited to retail stores on Monday night in Princeton.

The PikeView Panthers hustled and bustled their way to a 77-60 win on the court of their county neighbors, the Princeton Lady Tigers, at the Ralph Ball Court on the day before Christmas Eve.

PikeView (6-1) got 28 points by Lyndsay Hatfield, 15 points and 13 rebounds from Courtney White, and 16 points from Madison May, who also had three of the Panthers’ four blocks for the night.

Three Tigers (0-6) reached double-figure scoring as well, led by guard Sarah Cole, who had 10 points in each half. All five of her field goals came from 3-point range. Danielle Hall tossed in 15 points and Kaleigh Barker contributed 14.

Early PikeView turnovers gave Princeton an initial lead, but the Panthers tied the game 8-8 and closed out the first quarter on a 10-2 run. Hatfield was unstoppable prior to intermission, scoring 17 points in the first half to help the visitors to a 42-24 advantage.

Princeton wisely took the ball to the rim to start the second half, drawing fouls in the process, but the deficit was too large for the young Lady Tigers to overcome.

Hatfield, drawing even more attention after halftime, turned into a facilitator, passing the ball around, and concentrated on rebounds and decoying attention away from Panthers’ other shooters. The junior still added 11 points to her total.

In the contest, she sank eight field goals, half of them from 3-point range, and was 8 for 10 at the free throw line.

PikeView shot 62.5 percent from the floor and made 20 of 29 foul shots. Princeton was 11 for 24 at the free throw line.

PikeView’s next game is Friday at Graham. Princeton returns from its holiday break to play at Shady Spring on Jan. 2.
