Girls game: Grundy 63, Tazewell 40

The Lady Wave opened the game on a 14-2 run and opened the second half with a 14-3 spurt to take control in Monday’s opener.

Grundy had good balance from start to finish and placed four scorers in double figures. Sophomore Cass Keene scored 10 points to go with five assists and three steals for the Lady Wave. Lexi Boyd topped Grundy’s scoring with 15 points. Autumn Sperry scored 11 points, while Jessie Caudill added 10 points.

Emily Lane handed out nine assists.

Tazewell’s Gracie Cline was the game’s top scorer with 18. She also had three assists. Cyndee Moore hauled in eight rebounds for the Lady Dogs. Ally Lee added 10 points.

Tazewell (1-1) will play today at 6 p.m. against Grayson County at Tazewell Middle School.
