Westside 79, Bluefield 49

CLEAR FORK — Justin Cogar scored 25 points and Westside decimated Bluefield in a matchup of Class AA top 5 teams.

Westside (2-0) took a 37-26 halftime advantage, and then outscored the Beavers 42-23 after the break.

Jordan Ponder scored 16 points for Bluefield, while Raheem Reed added 14. Ponder had all four of the Beavers’ 3s.

Justin Kenneda added 13 points for Westside, including three of the Renegades’ seven 3s.

Bluefield (2-1) will play Parkersburg Catholic in the opening round of the Bluefield Christmas Tournament on Friday at the Brushfork Armory. Capital and Greater Beckley Christian will meet in the opener.

The consolation and championship games will be played on Saturday.
