NARROWS, Va. — Teamwork paid off.
A half dozen Giles Lady Spartans scored six or more points as the Pearisburg girls won the championship game of the Narrows Athletic Fund Christmas Tournament on Saturday, defeating host Narrows 64-50.
Karli Beechler led Giles with 13 points and was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Fellow seniors Kelsey Mosley and Tanisha Flinchum added 12 and 11 points respectively.
Maggie Guynn provided half of the Lady Wave’s points with 25. Darien Nagel chipped in 13.
In the consolation game, Megan Epperly hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Auburn a 42-41 decision over Craig County.
The all-tournament team, in addition to Beechler, consisted of Guynn, Epperly, Kiersten Shrader of Giles and Craig County’s Savannah Looney.
