In the first of four games Friday the Honaker Lady Tigers pulled away in the second half to get past the Haysi Lady Tigers.
Honaker (6-4) began to assert itself inside and in the open court in extending a 31-20 halftime edge into a 43-24 advantage by the 2:59 mark of the third quarter.
At one point in the third period Honaker held a 28-17 edge on the boards and were on the positive side of a 10-2 turnover margin.
"The girls played good, intense defense and I was well-pleased with that," Honaker coach Misty Davis Miller said. "We controlled the boards like we wanted to and we shot well."
Megan Ray and Tara Deel each scored 12 points and Laken Robinette added 10 points for Honaker's balanced attack.
Sydney Counts tossed in a game-high 13 points and Montana Robinette scored 12 for Haysi.
Honaker's biggest lead was 57-34 midway through the fourth quarter.
