Twin Valley 74 Haysi 45
Jackson, Vance and Kara Goodman all hit 3-pointers in a game-opening 9-2 run and Twin Valley (8-5) maintained control in Friday’s first varsity game.
Vance finished with a game-high 26 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks, while Jackson hit five 3s and dropped in 21 points.
Lady Panthers coach Tommy Crigger credits his backcourt defense with getting his club the lead and keeping it. Jackson finished with eight steals.
“We came out with good ball movement and we extended our defense up and our guards, Lakin Keene and Katelyn Jackson played the best they’ve played all season,” Crigger said. “Hats off to them pressuring the ball.
“Lexi and Kara and Katelyn hit shots, Kim came in and hit shots, Megan (Meadows) came in and her and Hannah got big rebounds and it all started with pressure from our guards.”
O’Quinn blocked four shots and pulled down a game-best 16 rebounds. Goodman had 10 rebounds.
Montana Robinette (17 points, 10 boards) had a double-double for Haysi (8-6). Blakelee Coleman scored 12 points.
