BECKLEY — The losing streak for the girls of Wyoming East didn’t last long.
Less than two days after falling from the ranks of the unbeaten, the Warriors from Wyoming County rolled past the Brooke Bruins 72-42 on Friday in the Big Atlantic Classic tournament at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
Gabby Lupardus claimed a triple-double for Wyoming East (15-1) with 15 points, 11 assists and 10 steals. Haley Butcher led the Warriors in rebounds with seven. Misa Quesenberry also had 15 points, and Kara Sandy chipped in 13.
Brooke’s bright spot was Angela Staffileno, who accounted for 36 of Brooke’s 42 points, along with 16 rebounds.
The Warriors play Monday at James Monroe, weather permitting.
