Beavers hold Oak Hill to 2 in first half

OAK HILL — Bluefield played defense like five German shepherds in a used car lot, limiting Oak Hill to two first half points and cruising to their sixth win in their last seven starts 81-34 over the Red Devils.
The Beavers, who led 8-2 in the opening quarter, scored first on a Matt Woodrum layup. The Red Devils Colby Gray answered with a follow up to tie the game 2-2 and Bluefield ran 33 unanswered points heading to the break.
In the second half with the outcome decided and the point spread in doubt, Bluefield stretched its lead to a game-ending 47-point margin 81-34.
Jeremy Thompson led all scorers with 21. Matt Woodrum added 17, Corey Coppola hit for 15 and Donta Hopkins scored 12. Oak Hill, 5-7 was paced by Deonte Scruggs with nine. The Beavers return to action Thursday night at Richlands
