Feb 13, 2015
Honaker 68, Grundy 54
Madison Miller carried Honaker briefly, otherwise balance was the key for the Tigers (18-6) in Friday’s opener.
Miller scored eight of her 15 points in the third quarter, leading a 13-3 run to extend a 29-16 halftime lead to 41-19 after a 3-point play by Tara Deel with 4:55 remaining in the period.
Led by freshman Cass Keene, Emily Lane and sophomore Lexi Boyd Grundy put together a 17-5 run to make it 46-36, but Miller, Deel and their teammates responded and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
“We were very spurty tonight, we’d get things going and then we would turn around and go flat again, but they held on and got the job done,” said Honaker coach Misty Davis Miller.
Madison Miller finished with 15 points, five assists and three steals. Deel also scored 15 points. Boyd scored 15 points, Autumn Sperry added 13 and Keene finished with 11 points for the Golden Wave.
