FAIRLEA — Sydney Nunley had a triple-double Monday night to lead Greenbrier East past upset-minded James Monroe.
The Lady Mavericks took an early first quarter lead and only trailed the Class AAA No. 7 Lady Spartans by one at the break. However, East responded by outscoring the Lady Mavericks 28-9 in the third quarter and held on for the win.
Nunley finished with 21 points, 16 rebounds and 11 blocks, while Lexi Tincher led all scorers with 24 points. Katie Wilmer added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Kat Walton also scored 11 points for the Lady Spartans.
Rebecca Sparks led James Monroe 18 points and eight rebounds and Sydney Ballard and Megan Bailey added 15 points apiece.
