RINER, Va. — Zach Rutledge scored 19 points, including a trio of 3s, and Auburn put a damper on the coaching debut of Fred Philips, as the Eagles defeated Richlands 66-61 on Friday night.
Phillips’ son, Luke, led Richlands with 22 points, 12 on 3s. Fuller added three 3s and 12 points. Scottie Ball was held to eight points.
Cole Epperly and Jacob Monday scored 12 points each for Auburn, while Preston Woodrum added 11.
Auburn (3-0) outscored Richlands 19-8 in the third quarter and 36-21 in the second half after trailing 40-30 at the break.
Richlands (0-1) will visit Grundy on Wednesday.
