TAZEWELL, Va. — The losing streak is over. The Tazewell Bulldogs held off the Golden Wave Monday 51-50 at Tazewell Middle School to end a 33-game losing skid dating back to last year.
Dakota Griffith topped the scoring for Tazewell with 13 points. Christian Jackson scored 31 for Grundy, nailing all four of his 3-point goals in the fourth quarter, but the Wave was hampered by a 4-for-15 team effort at the foul line.
Griffith’s jumper put Tazewell ahead late, 51-47, but Jackson’s final trey cut it to a one-point margin. The Bulldogs then brought the ball down the floor and ran out the clock.
Tazewell plays Friday against Fort Chiswell.
