Summers County 84, Westside 42
CLEAR FORK — Upset-minded Westside stayed close in the first half, but Class AA No. 2 Summers County quickly pulled away after the break with a pair of 29-point quarters. Summers (10-0) led just 23-20 at halftime. Westside center Morgan Thomas scored 12 of her 16 points in the half.
Whittney Justice finished with 24 points while twin sister Brittney had 26. Morgan Miller drilled four 3s and scored 14 points, while Hannah Taylor notched 10 points.
Morgan Thomas led Westside with 16 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. Brooke Russell had six rebounds and five assists and Carla Cook had six steals and five assists.
Westside (5-4) will host another Class AA rival, PikeView, on Monday. Summers County will host Princeton on Tuesday.
