FAIRMONT — The Bluefield Beavers, ranked ninth in Class AA, fell to the fourth-ranked Cougars on Monday in the East Fairmont Classic. The teams were tied 14-all after the first eight minutes but Lincoln (11-1) gradually pulled away, outscoring the Beavers (4-10) in each subsequent quarter.
Jia Coppola was Bluefield’s only double-digit scorer with 20 points. Hope Bray scored 25 for the Cougars.
Lincoln was whistled for eight fouls and Bluefield was assessed 23.
