Another dominant performance by Robinette
Grundy (67) Vs. Honaker (87)
Jan 19, 2016
Honaker 84, Grundy 67: Tanner Robinette had his usual strong game with 27 points, 16 rebounds, seven blocks and four dunks, and he got plenty of help for the Tigers, who stayed unbeaten at 17-0 on the season.
Honaker took command with a 15-4 run in the second quarter to get a working margin in the form of a 43-26 halftime lead.
Freshman Brett Boyd did the perimeter work for Honaker with three 3-pointers and 15 points and Hartley Hilton did good work all over the floor, hustling his way to 22 points, six boards and five steals.
Blake Stinton had nine assists.
"They tried to double and triple down on Tanner and we had some guys step up," Honaker coach Marcus Dunham said. "Hartley did an excellent job, Blake Stinson did an excellent job and Brett Boyd hit some big shots on the perimeter.
"I think we underestimated Grundy, they played really hard and with a lot of intensity. They played a whole lot harder than we did in the first quarter."
Grundy (2-11) had one of its better nights offensively, hitting nine treys, but it hit four in a 20-point third quarter and Honaker still extended its lead to 69-46 by the end of the period.
Ethan Duty scored a career-high 28 points to lead the under-manned and under-sized Golden Wave.
"We wanted to play hard four quarters and we did," said Grundy coach Brian Moore. "If we get that kind of effort like we did tonight against a quality opponent, there's a lot of people on our schedule that we can play with. I hope the kids can see that and take it and use this as a positive."
Christian Jackson scored 17 points and dished out five assists for the Golden Wave. Dylan Wolford contributed 14 points, six assists and five steals.
