Jan 30, 2016
By LLOYD COMBS
Ridgeview 65, Twin Valley 53: The Wolfpack survived a 32-point night from Twin Valley sophomore Tayten Sykes to win the nightcap.
Hunter Sutherland (19 points), Will Ratliff (16 points, 11 boards, eight blocks) and Austin Reynolds (16 points) led the way for Ridgeview (12-5). Isaac Rasnick played a key role inside with 13 rebounds.
Sykes scored 17 points in the third quarter as the Panthers (8-8) chipped away at a 42-26 deficit to get within four points, 50-46 early in the fourth period.
Sykes hit two free throws to make it 55-48 before the Wolfpack pulled away.
"They kind of took him out of the game (at Honaker Friday night)," said Twin Valley coach Matthew Baldwin, whose club suffered a humbling, 44-point loss Friday. "I told him he's got the potential to be one of the best players in this area and he's just got to go out there and grab it. He was real aggressive out there tonight, he looked for his shots. I'm proud of the way he played tonight.”
