Summers Co. 97, Clay Co. 59: Brittney Justice racked up 19 field goals en route to 43 points as the No. 4 team in Class AA fulfilled what coach Wayne Ryan termed a “test of character” after a 16-hour turnaround between road games.
Justice also has six steals. She and sister Whittney Justice, who had 20 points, distributed seven assists each. Hannah Taylor posted 22 points, five assists and six steals.
The Lady Bobcats (17-1) led 48-27 at halftime and went 17 for 21 at the free throw line in a game played at West Virginia State University in Institute prior to a Mountain East Conference doubleheader.
With 14 points, MacKenzie Burford led Clay County (13-4), currently ranked 10th in the Class AA poll.
Summers will host Independence on Wednesday in Hinton.
