BRADLEY — Mercer Christian Academy defended last year’s West Virginia Christian Education Association state title Saturday, defeating Victory Baptist 61-50 in overtime at Appalachian Bible College.
Daniel Boothe led MCA with 34 points but it was his younger brother Eric Boothe who made the difference with seven 3-pointers for 21 points.
MCA travels to Mount Vernon, Ohio, next week to participate in the national Christian school tournament.
MCA also defended their boys middle school state title, defeating Pipestem Christian 49-22.
Devin Shrewsbury led MCA with 11 points while Sam Boothe and Garrett Goins each had 9. The Cavaliers finish their season 23-5.
