Jan 04, 2013
PRINCETON — Princeton made the plays at winning time. The Tigers used a rock solid fourth quarter to knock Patrick Henry-Roanoke from the ranks of the unbeaten, 70-59, in the championship game of the Alpha Natural Resources Tournament at Princeton High School.
In a first half played at a high level, Patriots guard Marcus Banks fired in 19 points to stake PH to a 32-30 halftime lead. Ryan Meadows scored 12 to keep Princeton within striking distance.
In the second half a Meadows three-point-play gave Princeton a short-lived 43-39 advantage before Banks nailed back-to-back three balls and the Patriots led 49-47 entering the fourth quarter.
