ROCKY GAP, Va. — Darian Thornton scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds, leading Christiansburg past the Bland County girls in the season- opener for both teams.
Shannon Stuart added 14 points for the Blue Demons, which made 23- of-31 from the free throw line.
Bland County (0-1), which was hampered by 33 turnovers, was led by sophomore Tori Smith with six points and seven boards.
Bland will visit Richlands on Monday.
