HONAKER, Va. — Honaker continued its fine second-half run and secured second place in the final BDD standings by pulling away from Haysi (11-9, 6-4) in the second half in Friday’s opener.
Six Tigers had two or more steals as Honaker forced a whopping 34 turnovers, including 11 in the decisive third quarter, when Honaker overcame a 20-18 halftime deficit.
Balance was the key ingredient for Honaker (9-13, 7-3). Haley Brown, Madison Miller, Laken Robinette and Morgan Stevens scored 11 points apiece.
Brown scored six in a key 19-2 run that staked Honaker to a 39-22 lead late in the third period.
Hannah Mondrage scored 13 points and Erin Hyden added 10 for Haysi.
