CLINCHCO, Va. — Ty Hall scored Honaker’s first eight points of the game and 18 of his game-high 25 points in the first half as the Tigers pulled away from Hurley in game two Friday.
Tyler Hale added 11 points and Payton Ball scored 10 points for Honaker.
The Tigers scored roughly half their points in transition, relentless attacking the basket, even after made buckets by the Rebels.
Honaker (20-2) built a 32-19 halftime lead. Hurley (8-16) got within 42-34 late in the third period.
A 4-point play by Hale keyed a 13-2 run and Ball capped it with a 3 that extended the Tigers advantage to 55-36 with 5:32 remaining.
Greg Stacy scored 12 points and Wesley Peck tossed in 11 for the Rebels, who take on Council in today’s third-place game at 3:30 p.m.
