CLINCHCO, Va. _ Twin Valley erased a 17-point third quarter deficit, to get by Haysi 54-51 in the BDD girls consolation contest. The game went into overtime. Katelyn Jackson was fouled as time expired in regulation and calmly sank both free throws with no time remaining to tie the score at 44-44.
“We went with a small lineup and tried to force some turnovers,” Twin Valley coach Rick Goodman said. “We were able to get some turnovers and start hitting some 3’s. We were able to get back in it quick.”
Jackson also came through for the Panthers in overtime. With the score tied at 51, Jackson came off a screen to score, giving Twin Valley a two-point lead.
Brandi Rose who finished with a game-high 19 points made a free throw for the Panthers for the final margin. Haysi missed their final two shots.
