Honaker disposed of Castlewood 55-40 in impressive fashion. The Blue Devils had advanced to the final four in the state of Virginia last year, but couldn’t get by the Tigers in the quarterfinals.
Honaker (20-6) was never tied and never trailed in the game, leading from start to finish. The Tigers led 10-5 after the first eight minutes and led 27-20 at halftime. Castlewood (18-8) tried to fight back in the third frame cutting the lead to three points 38-35 on a free throw by Korey Purtee. It was close as they would get. The Tiger defense held them to only five points the final eight minutes.
Laken Robinette had a double-double for Honaker with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tara Deel also contributed 12 points.
Haley Crabtree led the Blue Devils with nine points.
Honaker will face Galax in the semifinals at Virginia High School at 6 o’clock on Thursday.
