BRADSHAW — In a girls' basketball game that produced 69 foul shots between the two teams, along with a total of 57 personal fouls and five banishments due to five fouls, River View picked up its second victory in as many nights by a 44-41 margin over the Hurley Lady Rebels last night.
On senior night, Brittany Coeburn and Chelsey Dobbs, both twelfth graders for the Lady Raiders, scored 15 and 13 points respectively in the win. Sissy Waldron, the only other River View senior, added five points, while Kiersten Dority contributed nine.
Richelle Stacy paced the Lady Rebels with 14 markers, with Kourtney Cook tossing in 12.
Hurley led the entire first half before Dobbs opened the third quarter with two free throws, assisted Dority with a goal and Dority scored following a steal to give River View a short-lived 21-20 advantage with 5:01 showing in the third.
Stacy's two freebies 19 ticks later put the Lady Rebels back on top until Dority's bucket with 1:01 remaining in the third put the View back on top for keeps at 27-26.
Coeburn's deuce at the 4:27 mark of the final period produced a 38-20 lead, but Cook converted a three point play with 58 seconds showing to close to within 42-41.
Coeburn, shooting for Rebekah Christian after she suffered a cut over her eye setting a screen, made one of two freebies, as did Dobbs with 15 seconds remaining to seal the victory.
The win is the fifth in seventeen starts for the Lady Raiders, who travel to Independence tonight.
