PikeView upsets No. 1 Bobcats

GARDNER — The PikeView Lady Panthers knocked off the No. 1 ranked Summers County Lady Bobcats 45-29, Thursday night on the PikeView campus.
Defense was the name of the game as the Lady Panthers held the Lady Bobcats to 10 points in the first half. PikeView held a 26-19 lead going into the final period before exploding for 19 points to seal the win.
Madison May led PikeView and all scorers with 15 points and four steals. Lauryn Hatfield tallied 13. Courtney White pulled down nine rebounds and Lysday Hatfield grabbed six.
Whittney Justice topped the Summers County scoring column with 13.
PikeView’s Hope Nester was honored for being nominated a McDonald’s all-American and it was also “Think Pink” night for cancer awareness at PikeView.
The Lady Panthers next host Bluefield, Saturday at 4 p.m.
