HILLSVILLE, Va. — The Tazewell Bulldogs jumped out to a 18-point halftime lead before Devon Johnson guided a Richlands comeback to force overtime.
The Blues’ rally would end though as the Bulldogs outscored them 15-5 in the extra frame to win the Southwest District consolation game 98-88 on Friday night.
Noah Walker led Tazewell’s attack with 25 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks. Jalen Jordan paced Walker’s effort with 20 points and seven rebounds. Four more Bulldogs were in double figures in Blake Hash (17), Christian Lewis (12), John Walker (11) and Colin Hancock (10). Lewis added nine boards while Hancock had eight rebounds and four assists. John Walker had seven rebounds.
Johnson had a game-high 40 points which pushed him past 1,000 for his three-year career at Richlands. Gabe Hunsaker chipped in with 19 points including four 3’s and Ben Brown added 16.
Both teams will be back in action Tuesday in the Region IV, Division 3 tournament. Richlands will host either Tazewell or Tunstall.
