BRUSHFORK — On senior night Bluefield put together a 35-point third quarter to defeat Wyoming East 85-63 at the Brushfork Armory. The Beavers trailed at intermission 29-28.
After Wyoming East hit a foul shot to start the third quarter, the Beavers tore off 14 unanswered points. Mookie Collier and Corey Coppola had five apiece in the run that flipped the game.
Jordan Ponder drained back-to-back threes to finish the third quarter as Bluefield coasted to its ninth win in its past 10 starts.
Ponder led all scorers with 26 and was joined in double figrures by Coppola with 19 and Collier with 15.
Alec Lusk had 17 to pace the Warriors.
It took both teams a half to knock the rust off their games after two weeks of snow-forced inactivity. Bluefield wraps up the regular season, weather permitting, with Friday’s home game against Oak Hill and Saturday’s road trip to Princeton. The sectionals begin next Tuesday.
