NARROWS, Va. — Dakoda Shrader got a steal and a last-second field goal for Giles to break the final tie and secure a 47-45 win over Narrows in a battle for Giles County on Monday evening.
Narrows led by five points with about 90 seconds left, but Giles came back for a 45-45 tie.
With six seconds left, Shrader stole a Narrows in-bounds pass and drove the floor, dishing to a teammate who missed his shot. Shrader grabbed the ball and flipped it over his head just before the buzzer sounded to capture the win.
Trenton Ray had 19 points to pace the Spartans. Cole Blaker had 14 points for Narrows, and Cody Collins added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Narrows (5-8) plays at home tonight against Grayson County. Giles hosts Eastern Montgomery on Wednesday.
