Honaker 75 Twin Valley 61

Honaker shot well from the perimeter, played well in transition and took advantage of their size inside in pulling away from the host Panthers in the first boys semifinal contest.

Tanner Robinette posted a solid double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead Honaker. The 6-foot-8 junior's 6-5 teammate, Casey Harman added a game-high seven assists. Hunter Lester added 13 points and Casey Dye scored 10

for Honaker.

The Tigers were 7-of-12 from 3-point range, including 6-of-9 in the first half on the way to a 47-20 halftime advantage.

Freshman Blake Stinson's second three-pointer of the half and an old-fashioned 3-point play on one of Robinette's two dunks keyed a 16-0 run that staked Honaker (4-1) to a 34-11 advantage.

"We came out flat against Northwood on Tuesday and we wanted to come out tonight with a whole lot more intensity and attack the zone a whole lot better than we did Tuesday night," Honaker coach Marcus Dunham said. "We were a lot more efficient tonight, we wanted to move the ball around and not get stagnant against the zone."

Freshman Tayten Sykes got on a roll in the second half, hitting eight of his first 10 shots and scoring 23 of his game-high 31 points, though it was too little, too late for the Panthers.

Twin Valley (5-3) trimmed a 26-point deficit to 65-51 on a Sykes 3 with 5:15 remaining and got as close as 12 points in the final minutes.

"We got in a little foul trouble and they hit a lot of big shots early," first-year Twin Valley coach Matthew Baldwin said. "They hit several threes there in the first half that kind of put us behind and we didn't do a good job of getting back on defense.

"But, I was really proud of my boys in the second half. They came out with a lot more intensity, they didn't quit in the second half. We got to go to Honaker on Tuesday so that was big for us not to lay down in the second half."

Tanner Wagner was in double figures with 11 points for the Panthers.
